If you're dreaming of your next UK getaway, our 4 day / 3 night itinerary for the ultimate long weekend in West Luworth will help you discover the best the Jurassic Coast has to offer.  Staying in our beautiful 300 year old thatched cottage in a beautiful traditional English village, a break at Honeysuckle Cottage is the perfect escape.

Friday – Settle In & Slow Down

Afternoon: Arrival & Unwind

  • Arrive at Honeysuckle Cottage any time after 4 PM.

  • Settle in, unpack, enjoy a cup of Dorset tea (or a glass of wine!) in the garden.

  • Soak up the scent of flowers, the sound of birds, and that fresh coastal air.

Evening: Stroll & Supper

  • Take a gentle walk to Lulworth Cove (it's just 10–15 mins from the cottage).

  • Watch the sunset over the water and enjoy golden skies and peaceful waves.

  • Dinner The Castle Inn for cosy pub vibes

  • Return for a peaceful night in — relax with a good book, a film, or some board games.

Saturday – A Jurassic Coast Adventure

Morning: Coastal Walk to Durdle Door

  • Enjoy breakfast at the cottage (fresh pastries from the nearby village shop if you fancy).

  • Hike the famous South West Coast Path from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door.

    • About a 2.5-mile round trip with stunning views.

    • Pack water, camera, and maybe a picnic!

Afternoon: Beach Time or Kayaking

  • Optional: Try a guided kayaking tour from Lulworth Cove to see sea caves and cliffs (book in advance).

  • Grab a bite or an ice cream back near the cove.Evening: Alfresco Dinner or Takeaway

  • Dinner on your patio at Honeysuckle Cottage (cook something simple or grab fresh fish & chips from Finley’s).

  • Wrap up in a blanket and enjoy the quiet of the countryside. Maybe do some stargazing — the skies here can be magical.

Sunday – Exploring & Local Charm

Morning: Tyneham Village & Countryside Drive

  • Drive (~15 mins) to Tyneham, a “lost village” frozen in time after WWII. Haunting, fascinating, beautiful.

  • Explore the ruins and walk a short circular trail through fields and coastline.

Lunch: Farm Shop or Countryside Pub

  • Head to The Weld Arms near Lulworth Castle for a hearty, rustic lunch.

  • Or visit a local farm shop for picnic supplies and lunch back at the cottage.

Afternoon: Lulworth Castle & Gardens

  • Visit the stunning Lulworth Castle (check for events or open days).

  • Stroll the grounds, climb the tower, and learn a bit of local history.

Tip:  20p pieces come in handy for the peacock food dispenser!

Evening: Cozy Night In

  • Pour some wine or hot chocolate.

  • Watch a film, play cards, or simply enjoy the peaceful evening.

  • Optional: Pre-book a local private chef or meal delivery if you want something special!

Monday – A Gentle Goodbye

Morning: One Last Walk + Farewell

  • Wake early for a short final walk — maybe back to Lulworth Cove for a coffee with a view.

  • Pack up, take a few last photos, and say goodbye with a final check out at 11 AM.
